Welcoming a New Receptionist
We welcome Mandy Turner to the MCL team. Mandy will replace Bridget Constantinos as the new receptionist. Bridget departs MCL for a well-deserved retirement, the team bid her farewell and wish her all the best.
Gold STEM Certification
MCL has renewed the Gold STEM (Steps to Environmental Management Scheme) certification for another year, another fantastic year working towards reducing our carbon footprint.

Cyber Essentials Renewed Certification
MCL is pleased to announce our renewed certification for IASME Cyber Essentials for 2023/24. MCL is fully compliant with cyber security standards and meets all conditions set in the IASME standard.

DfT ENCTS Review
MCL attended the DfT ENCTS Review webinar on the 9th of June and would encourage all Authorities to do so. If you didn’t receive an invitation or have colleagues who would like to attend, please email concessionaryfares@dft.gov.uk
MARCH
Hybrid Working for MCL
MCL has agreed that staff can continue to work from home if they wish. A monthly all staff meeting will be held in the office and the office will be manned by one or two staff. All direct dial numbers are diverted to staff laptops or mobiles, so please continue to use the contact numbers you have.
APRIL
MCL Appoints a new Director
MCL is pleased to welcome Dennis Yau who has joined MCL from the beginning of April, working 2 days a week, rising to 3 days from 1st June. Dennis will ultimately be taking over some of the work of John McKillop who will be retiring at the end of June, but who will be on hand to assist where necessary. Dennis will also be expanding our work with local authorities and bus operators. We will miss John after nearly 30 years with the company and its predecessor but wish him well in his retirement at his home near Inverness.
Dennis’s last position was Regional Head of Commercial for Arriva Southern Counties and we welcome another ex-operator to the MCL Team.
Apprenticeship Completion
We are pleased to congratulate Ed Flowers, our Apprentice, on passing his AAT Level 3 exams. He will be starting Level 4 in April.

Bus Open Data Service
MCL are proud to announce, that we now offer agent services for the Bus Open Data Service. We are providing assistance to a range of clients in order to help them comply with the new regulations. Please see more about Bus Open Data Service Agent services here.

One Year On
One year has passed since MCL staff started working from home, so meeting the government’s guidance on Covid-19 social distancing. The team at MCL has adapted well to the new working methods. Targets have been met and efficiencies have been maintained.
JANUARY
2020/21 Guidance and calculator issued by DfT
The new Guidance has been issued and can be found on our Resources page. There are no significant changes to the Guidance. The Calculator has been updated to reflect inflation changes and increased mileage and hourly costs.
NOVEMBER
2021/22 Guidance and calculator issued by DfT
The new Guidance has been issued and can be found on our Resources page. There are no significant changes to the Guidance. The Calculator has been updated to reflect inflation changes and increased mileage and hourly costs. Supplementary Guidance has been issued to reflect the COVID-19 situation which recommends that pre-COVID levels of reimbursement continue to be paid in 2021/22.
AUGUST
MCL Welcomes Another Apprentice
We are sorry to say good bye to Shaun Trueman who has been an Apprentice with us for 5 years. He is now moving to a position with a local firm of accountants (ours in fact) where he can continue his studies to be a professional Accountant. We wish him all the best. Shaun will be replaced by Edward Flowers who will be joining us in September and will be studying AAT as East Sussex College. Welcome Edward.
NOVEMBER
MCL Welcomes Damion to the team
A new apprentice has started with us. Damion has several years experience in the IT Telecoms industry and will be starting his IT Infrastructure Technician apprenticeship with us. Welcome Damion.
