MCL’s Bus Open DatA Services

Support And Hosting Services For Bus Open Data

MCL provide support to bus operators in compiling timetable and fare information, to satisfy the requirements of the Public Service Vehicle Open Data regulations enabled by the Bus Services Act (2017).

If you have any questions regarding support with the Bus Open Data Service, please contact us.

What is Bus Open Data?

The Bus Open Data Service allows app developers and passengers to access information based on public transport across England.  The Department for Transport wants to make it easier to obtain up-to-date and accurate information available so that bus passengers can:

  • Plan their journeys with confidence
  • Spend less time waiting
  • Find the best value tickets

How will this affect me as an operator?

The Bus Open Data platform provides passengers with up-to-date information on routes, timetables and fares in a standardised format. This enables app developers to utilise the Bus Open Data Service, to provide a range of services improving the availability of bus timetable and fare information across England. By December 31st 2021, it will be mandatory for all operators of local bus services to provide this data and keep it up-to-date.

How Can MCL Help?

Because of the new regulation, we will be able to assist operators with compiling, and maintaining timetable and fares data required. This will be managed securely by our specialised team. We can also offer advice regarding the requirements to publish real time information.
